The European Migration Network (EMN) is a Europe-wide network set up in 2003 by the European Commission, on behalf of the European Council.

The 2008 Council Decision 2008/381/EC forms the legal basis for the EMN, whose aim is to provide up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information on migration and asylum issues.

The network consists of the European Commission, a Steering Board, two service providers and, at a decentralized level, by the National Contact Points of the EU Member States and Norway.

From 2004 to 2013, the EMN National Contact point for Italy was managed by IDOS Study and Research Centre with the coordination of the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
