EMN Luxembourg National Conference, Lux. City
EMN Luxembourg

Tuesday 27th – Wednesday 28th September 2011
4th National Conference of the EMN Luxembourg
“Come – stay – go.
Schengen – Luxembourg - Europe”

These two days of reflection and discussion involve the presence and participation of Marie-Josée Jacobs, Minister for Family Affairs and Integration, Nicolas Schmit, Minister of Labour, Employment and Immigration, Diane Schmitt, Head of Unit ‘Immigration and Integration’, European Commission, DG Home Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rolf Tarrach, Rector of the Universiy of Luxembourg and Ass.-Prof. Dr. Christel Baltes-Löhr, coordinator of the European Migration Network at the national level.

The presentations by national and international experts on free movement in the Schengen area, the main subject of the conference, will serve as basis for discussion during this event, which aims to be a truly open and participatory forum encouraging the exchange and development of ideas.

The Convention of Schengen in the context of migration and its practical application in Luxembourg, as well as the implications and challenges for integration policy in Luxembourg, will be at the centre of the discussions.

The conference begins on Tuesday 27 September at 8:30h at Hotel Parc Bellevue and closes on Wednesday 28 September at 15h after a joint lunch. For the first time, a cultural programme is organised around the two-day conference, including a film projection, a public lecture and guided visits to the European Museum Schengen and the Domaines de Vinsmoselle in Remerschen.
